Founding Executive Director
Reader To Reader's founder, David Mazor, has been widely recognized for his devotion to literacy. He has received the Celebrate Literacy Award from the International Reading Association and the Janet Dakin Award for Human Services, and has received Special Citations from both the Massachusetts State House and State Senate. Mazor was one of four people nationwide to be profiled in the 2006 edition of The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease, and was featured on public radio's Marketplace Morning Report and in the Christian Science Monitor. Other books that highlight his literacy work are Everyday Philanthropist and Why Not Do What You Love? An Invitation to Calling and Contribution in a World.



Sara Aoyama

Director, Doris Hiatt Mentoring Program
Sara Ackerman Aoyama is a Young Adult librarian and former ESL instructor at Toyo Junior College in Tokyo, Japan. Her training as a librarian and her past teaching experience enable her to enthusiastically direct the Doris Hiatt Reading Forums at Reader to Reader. She is particularly dedicated to stimulating both reluctant and avid readers by providing a balanced array of books and a forum to discuss many of these books with their Amherst College mentors.

Caitlin Scudder began her affiliation with Reader To Reader as a reading mentor in both the Navajo Mentoring Program and Doris Hiatt Mentoring Program. After helping establish the Summer Enrichment Program, she became the Assistant Director of International Programs and is facilitating the development of the Costa Rica School Library Project.



Kathryn Libby

Director, Special Projects
Kathryn Libby joined Reader To Reader three years ago as an office assistant, and was one of the first online mentors. She developed the online college discussions and began recruiting additional mentors shortly thereafter. After co-teaching the Summer Enrichment Program, she became Personnel Director, and is responsible for new hires and organization in the office. Her plan is to continue her involvement with Reader To Reader while working towards her M.S. in Library and Information Sciences.
